The Royal Mile

Wednesday June 19
The Royal Mile is the name given to a succession of streets forming the main thoroughfare of the Old Town section of Edinburgh. The thoroughfare is approximately one mile long, runs between the Edinburgh Castle and Holyrood Palace, and is the busiest tourist street in the Old Town.
Edinburgh Castle is a fortress dominating the skyline of Edinburgh from its position atop the volcanic Castle Rock. The Scottish Crown Jewels are on view in the Crown Room.
Founded as a monastery in 1128, the Holyrood Palace is The Queen's official residence in Scotland.
