Today Cobh commemorates the anniversary of the day 123 people from Cobh boarded the Titanic. Three days later 79 of them died. Each year they have a service at the Titanic memorial. Some of the residents dress in period costumes. There are several speakers, prayers are said, songs are sung, then everyone marches to Kennedy Park. The names of those who died are read, and 79 flowers are tossed into the sea.
